Nesting Cormorant

This beautiful nesting cormorant flew into my postbox recently. Desiree Habicht managed to capture the bird at an wild animal park sketching from life. This beautiful watercolor study arrived in perfect condition. Thank you Desiree for this wonderful addition to my small, but growing collection of artist postcards..

This is really beautiful.

Plus I so admire the nerve of Desiree to do black against black - but she's well and truly demonstrated how well she paints in watercolour!

Thank you all for your nice comments, I used our favorite green Perylene green for most of the darks, mixing on paper, I found a new color called shadow green I will try next. I have to admit, painting something that is sitting still is easier.
