Colourful Autumn – Cathy's postcard from South Africa

This colorful autumn postcard I received yesterday on a wonderful early summer day. Cathy wrote that she drew this great little work of art at the May Day public holiday. Cathy has a beautiful handwriting: "We are fully into autumn now & there are so many colours where I walk round the dam - too many to hit on a postcard! ... lots of people walking in the park. The birds are Hadeda Ibises (because of the noise the make) which graze on the lawn every morning ... "

Thank you so much Cathy! Everything on the postcard, on both sides, fits perfectly together including the stamps and the very well characterized silhouettes of ibises.

Isn't this a lovely "living' card - the people enjoying the gorgeous Autumn colours. Which is so strange, it being late Spring colours here. And how great to be able to see Ibises where you live.

Great to see people on a postcard - makes it come alive!

So weird seeing autumn colours though just as we're entering summer

rich rich colours and busy movement and I felt the same - weird to think of you moving into autumn as summer begins here.

What a beautiful scene with wonderful people and foliage, Cathy. I love the ibis too. They were everywhere when I was back in Sydney, even picking over the city rubbish bins. I suspect it's because people have stolen their natural habitat.

Beautiful Cathy! I miss the song of the ibis...we usually heard them so much at the Natal coast, where Hartman's parents had their holiday home...it is a reminder of beaches and early mornings breakfasts and tennis games and bare feet and small kids, cousins...your card this time brings back tender memories...

So Lovely! It is hard to picture fall when I am in spring! How wonderful the colors sound and the people strolling about. Your card instantly reminded me of the warm oranges and pink shadows that are created our fall sun. Beautiful!! I have never seen nor heard an Ibis, so interesting!
