Stunning Autumn Glory at Sheffield Park

This card needs no words.  Enjoy!   I certainly am.  It's genuinely tremendous!!

Thank you so much Katherine.  I have been studying it carefully working out the technique.  The delicate interlace of pen and coloured pencil works brilliantly.

Lucky me!

If you'd like to know more about the wonders of Sheffield Park see Katherine's recent posts on her sketchbook blog:

That is a wonderful piece. I wonder how the clear, but darker look of the reflection in the water was achieved.

The approach I use is to create a tonal drawing first using a pen which has sepia ink. The sepia colour allows me to get a tonal shade without making it too "hard". Then coloured pencil on top - making sure the reflections in the water are darker/duller than the colour in the trees - and then erasure to get ripples and light highlights.

I didn't get it right first time! Fortunately the mat board takes quite a lot of punishment from the battery powered eraser! I did change the batteries though..... ;)

I also admire Kathryne's technique. You have to have one actually in your hand to realise the work that goes into her cards. A lovely view of the Park.

true Bridget. The complex layers don't show up as well onscreen. So special to see in real life.

Really pretty, such a lovely time of year.

I had to go and stand in front of mine for a while just to remember the tender use of the pencil. This one is lovely, too.

I can't wait to hold mine in my hands either. I particularly love the way Katherine achieves her reflections. Gorgeous card.

This is one of my favorites of Katherines, so wonderful all the colors, textures what a treasure! For not getting it right the first time you sure turned that around!

Thanks everybody - this one is a particular favourite of mine - although I think anybody would make a lovely card when visiting Sheffield Park
