The Sad Tale of Two Postcards

As the Chinese Year of the Dragon starts today, I have to finally accept that the postcard Charlene sent me at the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit is probably never going to get here - the joyously colourful Gate of Harmonius Interest in Chinatown, Victoria that she luckily scanned for her records and eventually emailed to me. When it became obvious that some misfortune had befallen it, I begged Charlene for another one to complete my collection, and in her busy life and travels she found time to create the beautiful, crisp Banff glacial scene of Mt.Lefroy and Victoria Glacier below.
After a few weeks I once again became anxious that it hadn't arrived yet, and went to investigate my garden more closely....
...and this is what I found, bedraggled and forlorn under a bush nearby. Our postbox had its brass stolen by metal thieves some weeks before, and if letters are pushed too enthusiastically into the hole left behind, they shoot right through to the other side. Which is what happened to postcard #2 from Victoria to Johannesburg, plus some heavy Highveld thunderstorms and a few paper-munching snails - a very sorry end to a long journey and Charlene's lovely artwork.

A lovely write-up of our two misadventures, Cathy -- the only two of the whole Postcard from My Walk series, as far as we know.
This Gate of Harmonious Interest is just in time to convey wishes for a Gung Hei Fat Choy to all (or Gung Haggis Fat Choy, if the celebration of Robbie Burns Day is added to the mix, as it is here in southern British Columbia.

LOL, what a combination Charlene - yes, we can be glad if these were the only casualties, but why both from vous to MOI!?!

What a pity that the gorgeous chinese gate is lost.
I fear I have lost another card too, at least that is what I guess as there is no feedback/posting here and the card has been send weeks ago already.

Oh how very sad!

At least you know what happened to the first one.
I'm so glad Charlene did her scans before she sent them off - they are splendid sketches

So glad you scannned these Charlene - it would have been so sad not to have seen your beautiful, crystal clear images.

We were doing so well with the post at the beginning. I'm so sorry about the fate of Charlene's beautiful postcards. And Cathy's double disappointment.

Now I'm also feeling sorry for myself, Martin because I fear it is your postcard to me that has also gone missing. The optimist that I am will continue to sit by the letterbox and hope.

Oh what a story, the adventure continues. I am so glad to have seen your work Charlene they are both done in your distinctive style I so love.

I can't stand the thought of Martin's card going astray too.

I somehow missed this post of the sorrowful misadventures of the postcards! I am so sorry to know that they are lost but thankful that Charlene scanned them before sending! This makes for interesting stories in the future, I often wish the antique furniture that we have collected over the years had a way of sharing all their many adventures too!
