My last card - Birdies from Robyn

Robins and a blue tit by Robyn

I have a folder on my computer and inside it are all the scans of the postcards I've received over the last twelve months from A Postcard from my Walk project.  It's a mini gallery - as this blog is - of all the postcards from this wonderful project which I have enjoyed so much - even if I've been a little late with my own postcards from time to time!

This image has just joined them and, if my reckoning is correct, this makes it the last card that I'm due to receive from this project.

How appropriate then that that my last card should be Robins by Robyn!

She tells me that her exercise during winter is climbing up her garden steps in Castiglion Fiorentino to fill the bird feeders which apparently the local cats think is the new locale of a brand new restaurant for them.  It's so tricky getting bird feeders located where you get at them easily but the cats can't!

It must be even trickier now that the garden in Castiglion Fiorentino has had snow and expeditions by manly blokes are required to bring home the bird seed!

Robyn has sketched her birds in fluid acrylic - which surprised me as I initially thought it was watercolour.  I'm still trying to work out how she managed the splendid spattered background without getting it all over the birds too!

Thank you so much for my Italian birdies which will always remind me of Robin!

Absolutely delightful Robyn! you've really been studying the birds, great observation and character in these.

So sad that it's ending now

I too have a wonderful folder of all the postcards I've received, plus a folder of Robyn's robins, collected here and on her blog. Aren't they great! Much more endearing than North American robins, and well worth trucking into town for their birdseed supply.

A lovely way to complete your collection. This is just very Robin - and I, for one, really love it.

I love both these birds...the blue tits and robins...amazing how tame they actually get. Yours are as adorable Robyn and well captured on paper.

Robins from Robyn and multipurpose Cat/Bird feeders…… Your posts are always so informative and well written, Katherine. Your card is great, Robyn. I love the color and to think it is acrylic so it probably traveled really well through the mail.
I have put my cards as a screen saver so when I sit too long at my computer, images start flashing across the screen and I continue to sit and just watch each image again and again.

Pat, I think acrylic was made for postcards. It would probably even survive a week in Cathy's garden.

Thank you all for your generous comments, as ever. :)

Charlene, I am so touched that you would collect my robins.

Katherine - the birds were saved from spatters by cunningly placed scraps of paper that cunningly decided to roll up when the first drops of moisture landed!

Robyn, what a beautiful card, I love the birds! I know you have been studying them and working with the book you purchased last year on painting birds, wonderful! I love the idea of making them all screen savers so that they will continue to scroll through on the computer, thanks for the idea Pat.

Robyn, this is such a happy card, don't ask me why, it just makes me makes me feel happy when i look at it. A great antidote to the cold , gloomy evening here in London right now!
