Spring poppies.

Each time I see a flower, I think it is my favorite. And so again it was the case when Alison's radiant poppy showed up in my mail box. My favorite flower.

For someone who doesn't often paint with reds and oranges, she did extremely well in capturing the voluptuousness of the poppy.

Thank you Alison, I love my red spring poppy.

Marvellous reds, Alison, you've really captured the silk-like transparency of the poppy and your subtle use of green in the bud and stem is lovely. Beautiful vivid postcard.

Beautifully painted, Alison. Ronelle used the best word...voluptuousness....that is just what this poppy is.

I agree too :>)

Thanks for the comments. The red was mainly derived from Schmincke's translucent orange and some W&N scarlet lake.
