Albrecht's Postcard from his Walk

Albrecht Rissler 2011
Graphite on paper 25cm x 15cm

I received Albrecht’s postcard on a day that was especially long and difficult.  After unloading all the stuff from my arms, schlepping everything from the car to the house, greeting and feeding all my furry animal family members waiting their turn to be given attention, I went over to the mail box and among all the bills I found this wonderful piece of Albrecht’s life.   There in my hand was a beautifully rendered sketch of what Albrecht sees out of his window.

Thank you, Albrecht, for this wonderful gift.

Really lovely, the crow in the branches add to the feel of the card!

Makes me wonder what the bird is thinking. It puts such a lively energy into a great drawing of what lurks with a tree.

I love Pat's story about how this wonderful little drawing from Germany made her day.

It's not easy to get the likeness of the shape of a crow when it's a profile of part of the bird but Albrecht does it perfectly - and it totally makes the drawing.

Katherine is right. It's really not easy to catch the profile. In fact the crow was much smaller. In order to correct the shape of the head the whole guy became bigger and bigger. I'm sure you notice the disproportion...

Well I didn't notice the difference. I've always thought of them as very big birds!

I love this crow - I don't see them often here - lots of jackdaws instead - and its a perfect size for the design of the card.
