Pride of India Trees line his neighborhood street Watercolor on paper by Cathy Gatland |
Here is the wonderful painting that Cathy Gatland has painted just for me and sent it all the way from Johannesburg, South Africa. Cathy covered the card with an overlay and wrote all sorts of notes so I could better understand where she Sketchercises. Then she popped it all into an envelope so that it would get to me unharmed. Cathy and I have known each other of a few years now and become dear friends. I found her blog and fell in love with her work, wit and wisdom. She is a very special lady.
Front with overlay and a portion of the back. |
Here is a the back of the card covered with pictures of the front with its overlay on and just lifting.
Aren't these flowers to die for and beautifully painted?

Wow, this is just beautiful!! It makes me want to go walking with you. I kept trying to make the picture bigger and bigger so I could see all the details! I think we call them Crepe Myrtle, they are wonderful blooming on your postcard! I love how you did the overlay, everyone is so creative, making each postcard so unique!
Look at those beautiful shadows under the flowers. Cathy's watercolours always delight and you are so lucky, Pat to be on the postcard schedule while these trees were in bloom.
So pretty!! I love these postcards..
Lovely! and the close ups of flowers even nicer than the front, I liked that delicate shadow as well - so imaginative with the overlay.
Crepe myrtle! That's the name I couldn't think of, thanks Desiree :) Thanks Pat for your sweet words, and everyone for your comments.
What wonderful colour - that's sensational! Plus I'm really intrigued by your packaging of the postcard complete with explanation!
How original Cathy - stunning portrayal of blossom - and The small studies on the reverse are just beautiful
Wow Cathy - What gorgeous colour! Lovely!
Pat, you've done a wonderful job of displaying all the truly magical details on Cathy's card!
cathy...this is so utterly beautiful...and so original with the overlays...But what else did I expect? You are an artist. NO doubt about that!
And yes, Pat, thank you for displaying Cathy's card perfectly!
Oh Cathy!!! This is wonderful!!!
I'm really impressed - especially by the artistic way to give the blossoms a three-d image by setting shadows. I also love the personal way you have composed the card. Very professional Cathy!
I had to google those wonderful trees. Thanks for bringing the lush colours of tropical trees on my desk!
