A Beach in London!

You wouldn't think that Katherine had been going through a torrid time in London, looking at this tranquil scene in her local park. She transformed the drained lake into an 'urban beach' scene in her distinctive cross-hatching with coloured pencils style - so beautiful to see in the original. I love the clean, elegant composition and the lovely cool colours - gives me a feeling of a real haven of peace in spite of what had been going on very closeby.
And don't the British just do the most beautiful stamps!?

Thanks Cathy - this scene is just three miles east of the Bank of England in the City of London too!

The stamp is by William Morris and comes from one of his flower designs - although I'm not sure whether it's wallpaper or textile. I got a book of all the different ones when I saw them as he is one of my favourite arts people

I love the simplicity of this scene - such lovely reflections - it does shout tranquility - and in the heart of London its amazing.

Katherine your CP works are always so delightful for the color, line and form and simplicity of the image. You make it look so easy. Like the taste of the freshest fragrant piece of fruit which is impossible for me to create but gratefully possible for me to enjoy.

I thought it was William Morris, but was confused by the name John Henry Dearle on the stamp - I see on Wikipedia that he worked for W.M. and became art director after his death. This design is on the page, labelled Seaweed wallpaper. Happy to see I can leave comments again too - if this goes through!...

Lovely, tranquil scene. The simplicity of it really highlights the gorgeous textures you achieve with your pencils!
