Mt Blanc from Chamonix
You can imagine my complete delight when I arrived home to this breath-taking postcard from Alison. It is from Chamonix in the French Alps and shows the view of Mt Blanc at 4,800m - its massif is huge and every view is dominated by towering peaks regardless of which direction you are looking it. She says "You would love it here... Early june which is when we visit is very quiet ... you can walk for miles and not see anyone.you'd love the architecture too, old interesting facades and in parts begging to be sketched" It does indeed sound like I need to plan it into my next European visit. Hmm... I wonder if there is a tearoom there....
Thank you Alison... I LOVE it!!!

This is fantastic! :). Terrific how the paper structure supports the subject which is depicted with minimal means in a great way.
Thanks Martin and thank you Liz! I am glad you like it. Seriously you would love it there (not peak season though!) And yes there are tea rooms in Chamonix - some with the most stunning views, looking right at the glacier. A tea cup sketch with a glacier in the background, now there's a challenge! :o)
Forgot to say Martin - It's Khadi paper again, i really love this stuff!
Martin stole my word - 'fantastic!'! It is a excellent capture of the mountain, Alison, such a difficult subject and I too love the way you have exploited the texture of that beautifu paperl. Stunning little painting. Complimenti.
I think mountains with snow are really tricky to capture - all this shadowy parts. But you've done it beautifully.
brrrr a real sense of high mountains - and cobalt blue deep as well!
Simply stunning, what an amazing place! Would love to see this in person, beautifullyainted!
Beautigful alison...majestic cold and isolated..just as it is!
